Design Education Talks Ep. 20 – John Spencer

This Saturday on Design Education Talks we talk to John Spencer an award-winning creative director and graphic designer, founder of design agency Offthetopofmyhead. John invents names, designs logos, creates graphic and language identities, and conjures up campaigns. 

Names include Alcohol Change UK, Rethink (formerly National Schizophrenia Fellowship), Showhow (formerly London Arts Training Consortium), and UEFA People, a campaign by European football’s governing body. 

Logos and identities include Alcohol Change UK, Blind Veterans UK, Campaign to Protect Rural England, Lloyd’s Register, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Royal College of Nursing, Sadler’s Wells, The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, The National Archives and The Royal Academy of Engineering. 

Campaigns include Assume Nothing for Terrence Higgins Trust, Enough Said for World Society for the Protection of Animals, Putting the Pieces Together for MS Society and Stop the Con for Survival International. 

His work has been widely published, most recently in Logo and Logotype, the best-selling books by Michael Evamy, and Symbol by Angus Hyland. John is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers.
