Get your tickets at https://hopin.com/events/virtual-design-education-forum-2022

We started in 2019 with the vision of creating a practice based event that celebrates creativity in Art and Education without limitations or preconceived ideas.

This year’s event, builds on the success of #VDE21, #VDEF20 and #ADEF19, bringing design education specialists from all over the world, to share their teaching and learning experience, their similarities and differences in teaching Art and Design at an international level, while rediscovering the common language of art and design. Our speakers will be proposing creative, direct and applicable solutions to the many challenges that affect art and design education today.

Our mission is to bring together industry, lecturers and students to discover new ways of working together, forging curriculum that is more appropriate for this time. This is a is a practitioner’s forum that seeks solutions that are immediately applicable for the betterment of Art and Design Education as a whole. This year’s forum will take place currently online.

The theme for this year’s Forum is:

Experimental Teaching! Crafting space for teaching and learning despite any existing or perceived limitations!

Participations can take the form of a 10-15 minute video presentation, a workshop, a panel or even a keynote speech. This year’s forum will take place currently online, we are actively looking for collaborations and also looking at the possibility of creating a physical forum, but as of today we are preparing for a virtual one. Sponsorship whether its media or financial would be greatly appreciated.

The CSD CEP Forum 22 takes place on the third day of #VDEF22 organised by the Chartered Society of Designers on the theme:

If it’s Design Practice – it’s Design Education

Whatever designers do in practice must inform design education. This raises some important questions as to not only the content of design curricula but how it is structured to ensure academia keeps pace with the complexity, dynamism, and challenging aspects of contemporary design practice.

Technological, social, environmental, and economic changes requires that designers practice in a totally different way to that which they did less than a generation ago and the accelerating pace of these changes will demand greater collaboration between practice and academia to ensure there is no void ‘From Learning to Earning ™’

During this one-day CSD conference we will explore the CPSK™ framework for practice developed by the Society which also underpins its design education initiative and hear from a range of speakers about the aspects of design practice and business that are or are not informing design education for the benefit of current and future students.

VDEF22 is produced and hosted by Lefteris Heretakis aCSDf MA RCA in collaboration with Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) and CEIDA. Lefteris is a designer, lecturer and podcaster. Lefteris has been illustrating and designing since 1996 when he founded Heretakis & Associates. In 2009, he began to lecture in visual communication design in the UK and around the world. After an extensive period of continuous reflexive research on art and design education, Lefteris created the first design education forum in 2019, that led to the creation of “design education talks podcast”. Since 2021 he is also the host of “designer talks podcast” from the Chartered Society of Designers.

Membership in the Society is awarded to qualified designers who demonstrate competence against CPSK (TM) (Creativity, Professionalism, Skills, and Knowledge).

The Royal Charter for this Society states: The Society exists to promote concern for the sound principles of design in all areas in which design considerations apply, to further design practice and encourage the study of design techniques for the benefit of the community. To secure and promote a professional body of designers and regulate and control their practice for the benefit of the design industry and the general public. The Society incorporated the British Institute of Interior Designers in 1988. The institute dates back to 1898 and can trace its origins as far back as 1236 to the Guild of Peynters and Stainers.
